Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten Program
Planting the Seeds of Success
Our early childhood center provides a caring educational environment in which children develop socially, intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
St. Edward the Confessor’s nursery and Pre-K programs are based on the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s Early Childhood Curriculum, which incorporates New York State standards. The curriculum includes open ended activities that focus on the process as well as the end product. Children are immersed in literature and activities for pre-reading and writing. They are given everyday opportunities to learn math concepts, such as shape, size, weight and numbers. Our program also incorporates religion, art, cooking, music, physical education, technology and Spanish.
Our Pre-K program was introduced at St. Edward the Confessor School in the Fall of 2000. Our nursery and Pre-K classrooms are invigorating and lively, while being warm and nurturing. These settings provide the ideal place for each child to grow and to reach his or her fullest potential.
Our morning nursery program for three year olds offers the option of three, four or five day sessions. The hours are 9:30 AM - 12:30 AM with an option to stay from 12:30-2:00 for “lunch bunch.” A full-time assistant, as well as an experienced New York State certified teacher and a small class setting provide a fine quality of education for every student. All children must be toilet-trained prior to entering the nursery program and must be three by December 1st of the current year.
Lunch bunch will be extended to 2:30pm for the 2017-2018 school year.
Our Pre-K program is aimed at helping each student develop all the skills needed for Kindergarten. Our Pre-K has a full time assistant, as well as an experience New York State certified teacher. A small class setting provides a fine quality of education for every student. All children must be four by December 1st of the current year. Our program offers a half day or full day option. The hours are 9:30 AM - 12:40 PM half day or 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM full day. Before and after care is available.
