My name is Elizabeth Farella and I am a Kindergarten teacher at St. Edward the Confessor School. I enjoy working with children and helping them achieve their dreams through education. I am a proud graduate of Molloy College where I studied education and received my permanent teaching license. Upon graduation I taught first grade in the Malverne School District. It was this experience that led me to earn my master’s degree as a literacy specialist with a concentration in learning disability studies. I received my permanent certification as a literacy specialist and have worked with students in this capacity from kindergarten through high school. My commitment to teaching reading continued after I joined St. Edward's in 2006, and I earned my certification from the Wilson Reading Program. I love to teach my students about writing and enjoy writing about education. I had an article about a mentor reading program published in The Wilson Decoder and my story about my journey to becoming a teacher who loves reading was published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series. I have published eight stories for the book series since and wrote about my faith journey in Catholic Digest. Working at St. Edward’s is one of the greatest joys of my life. I feel truly blessed to be part of this wonderful community.
