Mrs. Judie Wasarhaley
I am very happy to be the English Language Arts teacher in the middle school. This is my 28th year teaching at St. Edward. Although I taught third grade for sixteen years, I love teaching middle school students!
I was born and raised on Long Island and graduated from a Catholic elementary school. I attended St. Lawrence University for two years and graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. I have a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Adelphi University.
Although teaching adolescents may be challenging, it is a very exciting age to teach! These students are on the brink of attending high school and are learning discipline and study habits. My goal is to captivate my students with a love of reading and help them find their voice! The ELA curriculum includes reading, responding to literature, writing, grammar and vocabulary . The 8th grade students are very well prepared to take the Catholic high school entrance exam in the fall, and as a school, we have excellent results! The ELA curriculum for grades 5-7 is the same as above, with the added subject of spelling/word study.
St. Edward Confessor is an excellent school, competitive, and a wonderful and loving place to send your children!
